Earth Day is this Sunday, April 22, but to show your support for eco-friendly initiatives, you need to do more than add a “Happy Earth Day” message to your email blast. The choices you make for your company or organization will reflect their values – so you’ll want to make sure your promo items match your mission and messaging. Below are some categories to consider when looking for eco-friendly promotional products.
- Reusable Bags: Don’t make the mistake of using disposable plastic bags at your next “green” event. Non-recyclable plastic bags often end up in landfills, where they can take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade. Reusable promotional totes are the way to go for your eco-friendly promotions. (Click here to learn more about the benefits of reusable bags.) Consider taking it a step further by ordering a biodegradable, recyclable bag such as a bag made of 100% pure jute, a natural vegetable fiber. Many bags are made with environmentally-safe dyes, too. Ask your HALO Account Executive for specific details on your bag choices. Note: If you need to go plastic, look for biodegradable and recyclable bag options.
- Paper Products: Paper products are often affordable, and can definitely be a part of your eco-friendly promotion if made of the right materials. Look for notepads, journal books and sticky notes are made with recycled materials or “green” ingredients such as fruit skin and soy-based inks.
- Drinkware: Reusable water bottles give people an easy way to keep disposable plastic bottles out of landfills. When adding promotional drinkware to your marketing campaign, remember to look for BPA-free plastics or bottles made of something else such as glass or stainless steel.
- Writing Instruments: There are many different options for eco-friendly writing instruments such as pens and pencils made of recycled materials. For instance, our Aqua Eco Water Bottle Ballpoint Pen is made with 80% recycled materials from plastic water bottles and features a recycled symbol printed on the clip to make sure your target market gets your message. Fun Fact: It takes one 1.5-liter plastic bottle to make every five of these pens.
Whichever items you go with for your Earth Day or other eco-friendly promotion, remember to include eco-friendly cues on the items, too. Imprint colors and certain symbols (recycling symbol) can have an impact on the impression you give your audience. For other eco-friendly promo tips, read our post here or contact HALO today.
