Recently, HALO Account Executive, Ben Johnson, was recognized for his efforts working with Golf Channel. Our nation-wide network of Account Executives are here to work closely with you on any marketing campaign to help you get the most bang for your buck. And that’s exactly what Ben did.

The final campaign resulted in a Pyramid Award from the Promotional Products Association International. These awards recognize outstanding use of promotional products by distributors. According to Ben, the campaign also resulted in a happy client!

So how exactly did Ben and his client come up with this winning idea? It started when Ben met with a representative from Golf Channel to review some new calendars. This casual meeting turned into a brainstorming session for an upcoming campaign called “Summer of Golf”. Golf Channel was hoping to generate media interest in an unprecedented slate of events in 2016, attract new advertisers and re-book current partnerships, but they needed to launch everything before the Masters. Although they were on a tight, strict deadline, Ben worked closely with Golf Channel and multiple suppliers to deliver the final product on time.

The final product was a box of six custom sleeves of golf balls (three balls per sleeve). Each sleeve featured a link to a video using Pixaction technology. Each video clip highlighted top moments from various events.

“Dozens of hurdles stood in the way, but the deadline could not be missed,” Ben said. “Golf Channel loved the final product and reordered!” Some of the “hurdles” included finding the correct golf ball supplier who would allow them to repackage the balls in a custom sleeve, dealing with Olympic sponsorship conflicts and securing permission letters from over a dozen PGA tournaments and sponsors.

Additionally, because this order was so customized, Ben became the fulfillment house. He was responsible for unpacking 650 dozen golf balls, assembling boxes and sleeves and fulfilling the project into 350 mailer boxes with shred.

In the end, it was all worth it. The client was happy and the promotion opened the doors to many new partnerships for them.
