If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to increase sales and raise brand awareness, consider buying budget custom pens. Typically priced at less than a dollar per pen, budget promo pens are a go-to brand booster for companies of all sizes.
In the promotional products business, we’ve seen a lot of smaller companies start with budget pens, then add a more expensive medium such as TV air time as they grow, but ultimately return to “what really works” and provides the best value.
One reason budget pens are considered a promotional staple is their extremely low cost per impression (CPI). The lower the impression cost per targeted individual, the more efficient the advertising campaign.
Starting at less than a dollar apiece, budget pens can provide a cost per impression for as little as 1/10 of a cent per impression. How does that compare with traditional advertising media?
According to the Advertising Specialty Institute, a prime-time television ad costs 2.5 cents per impression and magazine ads cost 2.4 cents per impression. Even one of the most cost-effective forms of advertising, the internet, can cost more than half of a cent per impression, which is still over five times more expensive than the CPI of budget pens.
But cost alone is not the only reason that budget promo pens have such marketing moxie. The other key component to the budget pen’s popularity is its usefulness. People need pens and they will never stop needing pens, no matter how digital our society becomes.
A study conducted by Promotional Products Association International found that people use branded pens up to 10 times a day. Also, 56 percent of recipients said they keep their promotional pen for as long as it writes – thus increasing the lifespan of your marketing campaign.
Budget pens offer the best of both worlds. They combine a low cost per impression with a high return on investment.
